Walaupun ada beberapa orang pada mulanya mengatakan mereka menyokong hukuman mati, setelah diberi peluang untuk berfikir dan merenung pandangan peribadi mereka, dalam beberapa minit sahaja, mereka terus menandatangani petisyen yang menyeru moratorium hukuman mati dan\/atau menyatakan sokongan mereka.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Ramai di antara mereka setuju tentang pentingnya peluang kedua, percaya bahawa setiap orang patut diberi kesempatan untuk terus hidup dan memperbaiki diri. Majoriti penduduk yang kami temui juga nampaknya bukan penyokong kuat hukuman mati, sebaliknya mereka bersikap samar-samar atau menentangnya. Malah, salah seorang daripada mereka berkongsi dengan saya bahawa dia merasa tidak cukup maklumat untuk membentuk pendapat tentangnya kerana maklumat mengenai hukuman mati sangat sukar diakses, menjadikannya sukar bagi orang biasa untuk membuat keputusan.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Saya rasa perbualan kami hari ini menunjukkan bahawa walaupun kerajaan telah berjaya membina tanggapan sokongan terhadap hukuman mati, sokongan ini mudah goyah apabila rakyat diberi peluang untuk berfikir, membiarkan intuisi kemanusiaan mereka berfungsi dan membentuk pendapat sendiri. Apabila media arus perdana sentiasa mengulang naratif negara, dan apabila pihak yang melaksanakan hukuman mati lebih suka berdebat dengan bilionair asing daripada sesama warganegara, malah bertindak mengeluarkan arahan POFMA terhadap mereka, kerajaan telah merampas hak rakyat untuk kebebasan maklumat dan hak kita untuk berfikir secara kritis; terdapat jurang pengetahuan yang sangat besar dalam demokrasi kita yang kononnya sempurna ini.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Penting untuk kita terus bertanya soalan dan menghasilkan naratif balas agar kita semua berpeluang memahami masyarakat kita, dan mengubah apa yang tidak betul. Walaupun ada beberapa orang pada mulanya mengatakan mereka menyokong hukuman mati, setelah diberi peluang untuk berfikir dan merenung pandangan peribadi mereka, dalam beberapa minit sahaja, mereka terus menandatangani petisyen yang menyeru moratorium hukuman mati dan\/atau menyatakan sokongan mereka.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Ramai di antara mereka setuju tentang pentingnya peluang kedua, percaya bahawa setiap orang patut diberi kesempatan untuk terus hidup dan memperbaiki diri. Majoriti penduduk yang kami temui juga nampaknya bukan penyokong kuat hukuman mati, sebaliknya mereka bersikap samar-samar atau menentangnya. Malah, salah seorang daripada mereka berkongsi dengan saya bahawa dia merasa tidak cukup maklumat untuk membentuk pendapat tentangnya kerana maklumat mengenai hukuman mati sangat sukar diakses, menjadikannya sukar bagi orang biasa untuk membuat keputusan.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Saya rasa perbualan kami hari ini menunjukkan bahawa walaupun kerajaan telah berjaya membina tanggapan sokongan terhadap hukuman mati, sokongan ini mudah goyah apabila rakyat diberi peluang untuk berfikir, membiarkan intuisi kemanusiaan mereka berfungsi dan membentuk pendapat sendiri. Apabila media arus perdana sentiasa mengulang naratif negara, dan apabila pihak yang melaksanakan hukuman mati lebih suka berdebat dengan bilionair asing daripada sesama warganegara, malah bertindak mengeluarkan arahan POFMA terhadap mereka, kerajaan telah merampas hak rakyat untuk kebebasan maklumat dan hak kita untuk berfikir secara kritis; terdapat jurang pengetahuan yang sangat besar dalam demokrasi kita yang kononnya sempurna ini.<\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \n\u00a0 \u00a0 Penting untuk kita terus bertanya soalan dan menghasilkan naratif balas agar kita semua berpeluang memahami masyarakat kita, dan mengubah apa yang tidak betul.
